Fresh talent: A New Generation of Screen Icons with EE Rising Star Award 2026

As the BAFTA season heats up, all eyes are on the EE Rising Star Award - a unique honour in the BAFTA awards calendar because it’s the only Film Awards category voted for by the British public. This award has long been a launchpad for future global stars, and last year’s winner David Jonsson is proof of its impact. Following acclaimed roles in Industry, Rye Lane, Wasteman and Alien: Romulus, Jonsson’s victory cemented his status as one of the most exciting performers of his generation.

This year also marks a milestone partnership moment, as Hildon enters its third year as an official partner of BAFTA -  a collaboration rooted in shared values of excellence, sustainability and nurturing for the future. Just as BAFTA champions the next generation of storytellers through education, mentorship and recognition, Hildon is committed to protecting natural resources and investing in long-term impact through sustainable sourcing and environmental stewardship. Both brands understand that true legacy is built not only by celebrating today’s success, but by safeguarding tomorrow’s future - making the partnership a natural and meaningful fit.

Meet the 2026 Nominees

This year’s shortlist features five exceptional performers whose recent work has captured the imagination of audiences and critics alike:

Robert Aramayo
Aramayo earns his nomination for his powerful portrayal in I, Swear, inspired by the life of Tourette Syndrome advocate John Davidson - a performance that won him the British Independent Film Award for Best Lead Performance. He also stars in Palestine 36, shortlisted for Best International Film at the Oscars, alongside his television work in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Miles Caton
New York-born actor and musician Miles Caton broke through with his debut role as Sammie in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, earning global praise and multiple awards. Caton mastered guitar for the role and co-wrote music for the film, blending performance and artistry in a breakout turn that signals a major career ahead.

Chase Infiniti
Golden Globe – nominated for her lead performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Infiniti has become one of the most talked-about actors of the year. Her work has also earned Critics’ Choice and Gotham nominations, alongside a standout role in Apple TV+’s Presumed Innocent.

Archie Madekwe
Archie Madekwe is recognised for his compelling turn in Sundance favourite Lurker, a psychological exploration of fame and parasocial relationships. With previous standout performances in Saltburn and Gran Turismo, Madekwe also steps into producing, establishing himself as a multi-dimensional creative force.

Posy Sterling
A BIFA Breakthrough Award winner, Sterling is nominated for her emotionally resonant performance in BBC film Lollipop. Her screen work also includes The Outrun and World on Fire, alongside acclaimed theatre credits in both New York and London.

What the EE Rising Star Award Represents

Since its inception, the EE Rising Star Award has spotlighted performers who go on to shape the future of film and television -  from Lashana Lynch and Letitia Wright to Emma Mackey and last year’s breakout winner David Jonsson. What sets the award apart isn’t just prestige, but participation: the public decides the winner.

This democratic spirit mirrors the ethos behind BAFTA’s partnerships, including Hildon’s continued support - investing in platforms that elevate emerging voices, celebrate diversity of storytelling, and shape the cultural landscape.
