Why we love Hildon natural mineral water in glass bottles

Mineral water from a glass bottle just tastes better, but that’s certainly not the only reason that Hildon favours glass bottles for their natural mineral water. The Hildon glass bottles are iconic, with their Boudreaux style, embossed logo & distinctive labels. Have you ever wondered why do we love glass bottles?

The Hildon glass bottles are iconic, with their Boudreaux style, embossed logo & distinctive labels. Have you ever wondered why do we favour our mineral water in glass bottles? We know our signature Hildon bottles look chic, but there is more than just aesthetics.  Glass is naturally non-porous, meaning it will not leach inorganic chemicals into our pure natural mineral water. Glass bottles will also not alter the flavour. Our award winning, natural water beloved across the hospitality industry, will be preserved through shipping and storage for up to eighteen months. Plastic bottles however contain specific substances known as BPA chemicals that can leech into liquids when bottles sit for extended periods.

Glass is made from natural and abundant raw materials (sand, soda ash and limestone) that are infinitely recyclable. These materials are melted at very high temperature to form a new material: glass. At high temperature glass is structurally similar to liquids, however at ambient temperature it behaves as a solid structure.

Recycling & Sustainability of our glass bottles

Glass is made from natural and abundant raw materials (sand, soda ash and limestone) that are infinitely recyclable. These materials are melted at very high temperature to form a new material: glass. At high temperature glass is structurally similar to liquids, however at ambient temperature it behaves as a solid structure.

Glass is widely recycled nowadays, at bottle banks, recycling centres or doorstep recycling collections.

Can aluminium bottle lids be recycled? Absolutely! Nowadays most places, you can screw the lids back on and they will be removed for recycling during the sorting process. Check with your local recycling supplier.

We are all becoming much more aware of our impact on the planet, and here at Hildon we are always challenging ourselves to improve and consider each stage of production. 99% of our waste stream is either re-used or recycled, and this is after challenging its existence in the first instance. We have reduced our PET bottle range from six sizes to just two, with a view to phasing out all PET bottles. We are always investigating new ways to improve our Carbon Footprint, including new vessels. Glass is not perfect, there is energy consumption in its creation, it’s heavy to transport, and of course, there are still some people who fail to recycle their glass bottles.

Safety

Glass is tamperproof, Impermeable and can be recycled indefinitely, without losing it’s strength and quality. We value Hildon natural mineral water and want it to reach you in pristine condition, and want you to be confident of the safety of our water.

In the case of glass, there are four key elements – natural ingredients, inertness, impermeability and safety – and these elements all work in harmony to make your favourite mineral water taste great. If you are interested in our sustainability efforts, find out more here.
